Amna Japanese Traditional Massage is a massage that involves stroking, pressure, vibration, percussion and squeezing techniques. Amna’s primary technique is a k needing movement, whereas Swedish Massage is based on a stroking technique and Shiatsu is based on a pressure technique. Shiatsu, a style of bodywork popularized after World War 2, was developed from the Amna Tradition.

Amna brings to Western Culture, the ancient art and wisdom of traditional Japanese Massage. Amna generally does not utilize oil during massage. It may be performed on a massage table, the floor, massage chair, including client seated in an ordinary chair. This makes Amna an extremely flexible style of massage suitable for a wide variety of client needs and environments.

Amna contains seven foundational categories of techniques:

  • Kei Satu Ho: Light stroking technique, one of the most common in Amna Massage.

  • Ju Netsu Ho: Kneading technique, another primary technique used in Amna Massage

  • Shin Sen Ho: Vibration technique.

  • Ap Paku Ho: Pressure technique.

  • Ko Da Ho: Percussion technique.

  • Kyoku Te Ho: Special percussion technique. (This advanced technique is not covered in this manual. It is offered only in a special advanced live class. )

  • Un Do Ho: Stretching and movement technique.

In the Amna: Traditional Japanese Massage course, the practitioner will learn how to give a full body massage using Amna Traditional Japanese Massage techniques..
