The primary focus is an introduction to the history, theory and basic practice of Anam: Japanese Foot Massage based on kneading, petrassage and Zoku Shin Do – (traditional Japanese foot massage), which is a rapid, vigorous, and deeply stimulating style of foot massage and an excellent way of relieving achy feet and improving health.
Zoku Shin Do is the oldest known form of reflexology. Zoko Shin Do and Anma originated in China over 5000 years ago. This course details the method of foot massage that originate from this ancient tradition.
In this Japanese foot and hand massage course, students will be introduced to a general knowledge of of techniques used. There is an overview of Three of the Tabuso pressure points of the feet. The principles and application of Zoku Shin Do and Anma are explained and demonstrated, and students will give and receive all techniques.
Laboratory experience provides students with the opportunity to become comfortable with techniques and to learn proper body mechanics while applying techniques.
The course is available to complete beginners or therapists looking to offer an additional therapy to their clients.
Students will learn the 45 techniques used in supine position.
It will be of interest to massage therapists who want to spend more time on feet and reflexologists who would like to explore the Japanese connections of western reflexology.
By the end of the course the student will have a clear understanding of the principles of the Anma Traditional Japanese and Zoko Shin Do techniques.
Students will learn how to give a one hour foot massage in the prone position based on the Anma and Zoko Shin Do techniques.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to
• Demonstrate proper seated postures, stances, and proper body dynamics for performing Japanese Foot Massage
• Learn and effectively perform application of 45 techniques in supine position.
• Students will learn how to give a one hour foot massage in the prone position.
By the end of the course the student will have a clear understanding of the principles of the Anma Traditional Japanese techniques.
